Work in Canada
With few exceptions, most individuals seeking to enter Canada’s labor market will require a work permit. By applying for a Canadian Work Permit, you could join the more than 180,000 foreign workers who come to work in Canada every year.
Temporary Foreign Worker Program
Work Visa Process for Canada
- Once you have accepted a job opportunity in Canada, the very last piece of the working puzzle is obtaining a work visa. The process of applying for a work permit is twofold.
- The Canadian employer must receive government permission to hire outside Canada by applying for a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
- Once a positive LMIA has been granted, you must apply for and receive your Temporary Work Permit from the Canadian Visa Application Center.
We can help you and your employer with all the LMIA /work permit steps with Canadian Immigration.

These two pilot programs allow you to hire a foreign in-home caregiver. The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots provide in-home caregivers with the opportunity to become permanent resident once that have 2 years of eligible work experience in Canada. Their family members can come to Canada to work or study while they get work experience.
- You can Submit the Work permit and PR applications together after receiving a positive LMIA.
- Spouses and dependent children are eligible to accompany the main applicant and include their work or study permit applications with the Caregiver’s application.
- If you meet the requirements of either of the programs but don’t have the necessary qualifying Canadian work experience, they will receive an occupation-restricted work permit.
- The occupation-restricted work permit allows them to work for any employer in Canada as either a Home Child Care Provider or Home Support Worker, depending on which program the person applies under.
- Once the Caregiver has a minimum of 24 months of qualifying Canadian work experience in the last 36 months, they would submit proof and receive a decision on the PR application.
